Frequently Asked Questions.

Our Products

What does compostable really mean?

Our PODS are commercially compostable (we’re working on kerbside compostable
certification)
Our PODS have an 18-month shelf life. Our PODS are suitable for Nespresso compatible machines (classic/original)
Each box contains 10 capsules

Is your coffee organic?

The coffee we use in our compostable pods, and that’s available online, is organic. In-
store, our coffees are organic too.

Sustainability is a major focus for us as a company, we
are proud to have received BCorp certification (click here to find out more). This is a
significant milestone in our journey, as it highlights our mission to tackle both social and
environmental problems and make a lasting impact in the coffee industry and beyond.

We are honoured to have made the cut and join this movement of emerging companies
trying to make a difference around the globe. We are also a multiple Better Business
Partnership award winner and have also won the NSW Green Globe award for
excellence in sustainability. We include both environment and social aspects under this
banner and take into consideration our work at origin, at our factory and at our cafe’s.

Some examples at our factory include being 100% solar with a 30kWh smart system,
moving every light globe to LED’s (including our hi-bays) and we bail and sell all our
plastic and cardboard waste. We provide all our take away cups (including lids!) as
100% compostable and biodegradable and we were a key partner in developing the
new Huskee cups, made from waste husk in the milling of coffee at farms and ultimately
aiming to remove t/a cups from the system altogether. Our goal is to be better than
100% carbon neutral – we’re not there yet but we are on our way!

What's the difference between House Blend and Black Blend?

The Pioneer House blend is defined by a sense of adventure and purpose. It finds a
perfect balance between strength and flavour and uses only Organic and Fair Trade
beans.

The mix of coffees in this blend is consistent thanks to strong long-term partnerships
and incredible attention to detail at the farm level.  Medium-density coffees make this a flexible coffee that has a dynamic range and suitable for a multitude of brewing devices.
The name and Pioneer icon reflect a forward-thinking approach to sustainability and
care for both the natural and social worlds.
The espresso coffee has been personally selected and overseen by our trade partners,
which ensures the beans are treated with respect throughout the whole process – from
agronomic training at the farm through to further consultation at the washing station. It is
roasted specifically for black coffee or espresso, and is more fruity and complex, while
still sweet and balanced.

What machines are your Pablo and Rusty’s pods compatible with?

Our P&R’s pods are the Original style Nespresso capsule and will work with all Nespresso-compatible machines. If you’re unsure if our pods will work in your coffee machine please feel free to drop us an email to info@brownandrosie.co.uk
